Your Choice Matters: Even if your doctor suggested another facility, you can choose CID for your imaging needs.
Posted on P. Flinn Schanuel2 May 2024 Some times , some days , some hours, or even some phone calls can result in a bad encounter with this facility, but overall CID is a really good place that Hemet is lucky to have accessible in town. Be patient if you have to have a non-stat appointment scheduled, then don't miss it. It has many services available on site. Service dogs are allowed. Waiting rooms are clean, orderly, and have TV Plasmas set up. On my most recent visit to CID, I was scheduled to get biopsies on a mobile traveling unit (Dedicated Biopsy Services). I was hesitant, but the mobile unit was clean & well equipped. The technicians were excellent, the doctor was experienced & knowledgeable, and they were all polite, kind, informative, and professional. Although I don't recommend biopsies for fun, I do give this most recent experience an overall thumbs up. Osteoporosis means weakened bones and an increased risk of fractures. Evaluating osteoporosis risk is important for early intervention and management.
A Bone Density Scan (DEXA) is an accurate and reliable method for evaluating bone health and determining your risk of osteoporosis.
This diagnostic tool measures bone mineral density, providing important data that healthcare providers use to make informed decisions about treatment and prevention.
The DEXA scan is especially valuable for people at higher risk of osteoporosis, including postmenopausal women, older adults, and those with a family history of the condition. During the scan, low-dose X-rays take detailed images of the hip, spine, and sometimes other skeletal areas.
The procedure is quick, non-invasive, and painless, giving you important information about your bone health.
Scan results can show early signs of bone loss, allowing for timely medical interventions to strengthen bones and reduce fracture risk.
Our diagnostic center prioritizes personalized care and detailed evaluations to ensure you receive accurate information about your bone health.
Our team of radiologists and healthcare professionals provides osteoporosis risk evaluations, guides you through the process, and discusses results clearly.
We ensure you have the knowledge and support you need to maintain strong, healthy bones and prevent osteoporosis-related complications.
A Bone Density Scan (DEXA) is an important diagnostic tool for checking bone health. This imaging technique measures bone mineral density (BMD), helping to identify conditions such as osteoporosis and osteopenia.
Early identification of these conditions is important because it allows healthcare providers to start preventive measures and treatments that reduce the risk of fractures and other complications.
A DEXA scan is important for maintaining health because bone health issues are common, especially among older adults.
The accuracy of a DEXA scan makes it the best method for bone density measurement. It uses dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry to provide detailed images of the spine, hip, and other key areas where fractures commonly occur.
A DEXA scan provides detailed information about bone health, helping physicians create treatment plans for your needs. This improves treatment effectiveness and leads to better long-term health.
For Hemet, CA residents, Bone Density Scans are important for proactive healthcare. Regular DEXA scans can track changes in bone density over time, allowing for timely interventions that can prevent serious complications.
By prioritizing bone health through these scans, you can maintain an active and healthy lifestyle.

GOT QUESTIONS?
A Bone Density Scan, also known as Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA), is a non-invasive imaging procedure that measures bone mineral density. It checks bone strength and fracture risk, especially for people who may be at risk for osteoporosis or other conditions that affect bone health.
You should consider getting a Bone Density Scan if you are a postmenopausal woman, a man over age 70, have a family history of osteoporosis, have had fractures from minor injuries, or have been on long-term corticosteroid medication. Your healthcare provider can help determine if a DEXA scan is right for you based on your medical history and risk factors.
Preparation for a Bone Density Scan is simple. Avoid taking calcium supplements for at least 24 hours before the test. Wear comfortable clothing without metal fasteners, belts, or zippers, as these can interfere with the scan. If you recently had a barium examination or received contrast material for a CT scan or other test, tell the technician as these substances can affect the results.
During the procedure, you will lie on a padded table while a scanning device passes over your body. The scan usually focuses on the lower spine and hips, as these areas are most at risk for fractures. The procedure is quick, taking about 10 to 30 minutes, and is painless. You will need to remain still during the scan for accurate results.
The results are shown as a T-score and a Z-score. The T-score compares your bone density to the average peak bone density of a healthy young adult of your sex. A T-score of -1.0 or above is normal, between -1.0 and -2.5 indicates low bone density (osteopenia), and -2.5 or lower suggests osteoporosis.
The Z-score compares your bone density to what is expected for someone of your age, sex, weight, and ethnic or racial origin. A healthcare provider will discuss the results with you and recommend any necessary follow-up actions based on your scores.
